From Fr. Matthew’s Desk
1 September 2023
Dear Parishioners,
It was a little over four years ago when I first arrived at Good Shepherd—I had heard many, many good things about the parish from several of the former pastors that I know well — Fr. Mike, Bishop Kulick, Fr. George, Fr. Willie — and my own experiences here have far surpassed any of my expectations. We have shared much together, both good and bad, not the least the time of the Pandemic. I am grateful that we remained connected in prayer for one another during that time. I am also grateful that we used all the different ways possible to continue both ministry and our fundraising dinners.
What began as a future of possibilities has now come to its end as a wonderful bouquet of memories, for which I am intensely grateful. I have learned much during this time, and I hope that you have learned something from me. More importantly, I am grateful for all the love that you have shown to me — I feel as though I have received far more than I have given. All of you at Church of the Good Shepherd will have a special place in my heart — you have helped me to learn what it means to follow in the footsteps of Christ, the Good Shepherd. I ask that you continue to remember me in your prayers and know that you will remain in mine.
I wish both Father Dino and Deacon Mark all the best as they begin this next stage of their ministry serving all of you. As I hand the torch off to Fr. Dino as your new pastor, I am confident that you are in good hands. I now join the ranks of my predecessors as a former pastor, but I will always fondly remember my days at Church of the Good Shepherd.
Many Blessings,
Fr. Matthew
