Get Well Soon Carol!

Last Monday, Carol successfully underwent surgery at Mercy Hospital. She is continuing her recovery and rehabilitation. We hope to have her back with us again soon. Thank you to all who have been asking about her condition and keeping her in prayer.

Thank You Kate!

For the last year, we have been honored to have Kate Kell serve as our Organist while continuing her studies at St. Vincent College. Next semester, Kate will be studying in Ireland through SVC’s study abroad program. As such, next weekend will be her last weekend with us as Organist. Please join me in showing
gratitude to Kate for sharing her talents with us, and wishing her the best for her continued studies. Upon her return, Kate will be assisting as a substitute organist and will always be welcome to visit.

Error in Last Week’s Bulletin

Last week’s list of Masses had a blank Mass intention for Tuesday, August 9. The intention for the Mass was Mary and Flossie Smith by Marie Dandois. This occurs sometimes in preparing the bulletin file for printing, but I apologize for the error.

Planning for Upcoming Parish Yard Sale

We are looking for assistance to prepare for an upcoming yard sale (previously donated items are in storage). If anyone would like to assist getting items ready for the sale sorting, pricing, etc. please contact Carolyn Davis.

Help Wanted – Volunteer Office Support

In the past, we have had several volunteers who have helped us answer phones and do other light office work when Carol is away (or swamped with doing other things). I am looking for some other volunteers to assist with this on an “as needed” basis if Carol or I know we will need some additional help for a day or part of a day during the week, one of us will call.

This work will involve simple receptionist tasks like answering the door or the phone and taking messages; it might also include some other simple “office tasks” like helping stuff bulletins or prepare mailings. Computer skill is not required. Volunteer Clearances are required. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office to let me know.

Note Regarding Volunteer Clearances

All parishes recently received a note regarding required trainings and clearances for all volunteers. All volunteers need to have the PA Criminal Record Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance. In addition to this, all NEW volunteers will need to get the FBI Fingerprint Clearance upon becoming a volunteer and
can use the signed Affidavit upon renewal every 5 years. Existing volunteers are grandfathered in and may
continue using the affidavit. Any volunteers who leave PA for a year or more must complete the FBI Fingerprint Clearance in order to return to volunteering in a parish in the Diocese of Greensburg.

In summary: If your clearances are up-to-date, you will not need to do anything until they need renewed again. If you are a new volunteer, the FBI Clearance will be necessary (in addition to other required documents).

Thank you to all of our volunteers for your understanding as we carry out the work of the Church while keeping children and vulnerable adults safe.
